Check out our new publication out of work done at CU Boulder! Course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs) are revolutionizing STEM education, providing students with hands-on, real research experiences in the classroom. This study, conducted by our team at CU Boulder, evaluated the impact of the first reported large-enrollment, introductory physics CURE.Students enrolled in the C-PhLARE CURE demonstrated significantly higher scores on E-CLASS, a survey instrument measuring epistemologies surrounding experimental physics, compared to other first-year labs. Notably, the CURE positively influenced areas such as scientific communication, understanding of research practices, and belief in their own research capabilities. This study underscores the efficacy of CUREs in positively shaping students’ views of experimental physics.
