We just wrapped up the I-Corps program, and wow—what an experience! As a team, we set out to explore how companies are navigating technical hiring in the AI era, and the customer discovery process gave us invaluable insights into the real challenges engineering companies face today.
The structured approach of “getting out of the building” and listening deeply to customers gave us perspectives we never could have gained through assumptions alone. It was inspiring to watch the team apply the program’s intensive and evidence-based approach to validate and refine their understanding of the market.
As their faculty mentor, I especially enjoyed seeing how engineering education research tools, methods, and techniques, which aren’t often thought of in the context of I-Corps or IP, can translate into industry-facing solutions. It’s been exciting to discover how our work can support innovation well beyond the classroom.
